Creating Career Pathways in Commercial Real Estate (CCPCRE) is a partnership comprised of Oteenow Employment and Training Society (OETS), Tribal Chiefs Employment and Training Services Association (TCETSA) and the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) Edmonton, with the purpose of building capacity for Indigenous inclusion in the Commercial Real Estate (CRE) industry.

Recognizing that real estate is the second largest private industry after oil and gas in Alberta and is a land-based industry, the partners’ mission is to build Indigenous inclusion into commercial real estate. The Alberta Real Estate Foundation is funding this project through their 30th Anniversary Legacy Grants program, supporting distinctive and high-impact projects which drive transformational long-term change to advance the real estate industry and real estate across Alberta. This is the first time the Foundation is funding a project that promotes the inclusion of Indigenous Peoples in the commercial real estate industry.

The CCPCRE will start as a pilot in the Edmonton region and Northeast Alberta and has three goals:
1. Build capacity by facilitating CRE careers for Indigenous Peoples through hands-on training and mentorship.
2. Build capacity by providing Indigenous-focused educational opportunities to CRE companies through seminars.
3. Conduct research and identify gaps relating to Indigenous engagement, partnerships, employment and procurement about Indigenous representation and inclusion in the CRE industry.

CCPCRE is designed to become a full program that can be rolled out across Alberta and Canada by other organizations. OETS, TCETSA and BOMA Edmonton are excited CCPCRE is Indigenous-led and designed to be a best practice for Indigenous inclusion in the industry.
