Pineridge Project
Building six four-plexes in Calgary’s community of Pineridge, in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity in Southern Alberta, will create 24 safe, decent and affordable homes with BuiltGreen Canada’s energy saving practices, thus reducing overall maintenance costs and better directing funds to Habitat families’ education, food and clothing. Through the support of our community partners, families can thrive.

NewsAffordable homes is a dream come true for two Albertan families
Owning a home is so much than acquiring an appreciating asset – it’s a source of pride and new tie to the community. You could see the emotion on the faces of all four families that benefited from new Habitat for Humanity homes in Strathcona County. On a sunny July 27th, four families were handed keys that started new chapters in their lives. Two of the four homes were supported by the Alberta Real Estate Foundation, the REALTORS® Community Foundation and the Government of Alberta. The County of Strathcona also played a key role with significant contributions to all the homes.

The REALTORS® Association of Lloydminster & District is selling hammers donated and engraved locally for $100 each to raise funds to support Habitat for Humanity projects in Lloydminster. Funds will be donated to Habitat projects in Vermilion and Wainwright Districts. The application seeks matching funds to the amount raised.

Building for Liberty Capital Campaign
CREB Charitable Foundation is donating $500,000 to the building of the Brenda Stafford Foundation and is asking that we provide matching funding. The project is for emergency shelter, second stage shelter services and affordable housing options for women and children fleeing domestic abuse.

The Crowsnest Pass Affordable Housing Needs Assessment combined quantitative (statistical) data analysis with targeted Interviews and Focus Group Meetings (qualitative analyses) in order to identify and explore: Population and demographic trends; Household incomes; Housing availability (housing supply, form and tenure including market, nearmarket and non-market housing); Housing issues related to adequacy, suitability, affordability and accessibility; Other indicators of housing/economic hardship where data was available; and Impacts that the community may be experiencing as a result of declining housing affordability and choice.
ResourceScattered Site Housing Challenges for formerly Homeless
The initial project was a pilot for a nation-wide qualitative study of the attitudes and opinions of private Landlords to investigate their potential to help solve homelessness. However, it became clear in the preliminary stages of research, that a greater understanding was needed around the environmental factors affecting housing of formerly homeless tenants, particularly with regards to the scattered site housing model employed by the Alex’s housing programs, HomeBase and Pathways to Housing.
